Whip City Fiber is excited to announce the next phase of its West Springfield’s fiber-optic network expansion, preparing to bring high-speed internet to more homes and businesses.

Following the successful completion of the initial four pilot areas this spring, work is now beginning on the next fiber service areas (FSAs) listed below. Residents in these neighborhoods will start seeing Whip City Fiber trucks and Dig Safe utility markings as crews begin the preliminary underground work to stay ahead of the seasons.

  • FSA 6 — Braintree Road, Dewey Street, and Great Plains Road
  • FSA 8 — Forest Ridge Road, High Meadow Drive, and Lantern Lane
  • FSA 14 — Janet Street, Morton Street, and Larchwood Street
  • FSA 36 — Forrest Glen, Shadow Lane, and Dewey Street
  • FSA 54 — Rogers Avenue, Westfield Street, Upper Virgina Avenue

“As we continue building West Springfield’s network for Whip City Fiber, we appreciate the community’s support and patience” said Tom Flaherty, General Manager of Westfield Gas + Electric/Whip City Fiber. “Getting this groundwork done early, paves the way for a smoother transition with the next construction steps, and ultimately ensuring a seamless connection for customers when service becomes available in their area.”

“This is an exciting step forward for our community,” said William Reichelt, Mayor of West Springfield. “We’re proud to partner with Whip City Fiber to bring this important infrastructure to these next areas of town.”
