Whip City Fiber Announces 2021-2022 Expansion in Westfield

It has been 5 years since Westfield Gas + Electric first announced their plans to fully launch locally owned gigabit internet to Westfield as Whip City Fiber (WCF). Since then, Whip City Fiber has offered service to over 70% of the city and connected over 5,000 customers. Now, we are gearing up for the 2021 construction season with plans approved by the Municipal Light Board to expand Whip City Fiber service to 9 new areas in Westfield over the next twelve months.

An update from Tony Contrino, GMWestfield Gas + Electric/Whip City Fiber has been incredibly fortunate to move into this year having successfully weathered so many challenges in 2020. We’re nearly two months into 2021 and change is happening all around us. Although there is still snow on the ground, we know that spring is just around the corner. The Municipal Light Board is in the process of confirming a new General Manager. Our Electric and Gas Divisions are steadfastly preparing for the upcoming construction season. The Whip City Fiber group is preparing for continued expansion into new areas within Westfield. Together we move forward.
