The Universal Service Administrative Company on behalf of the FCC, randomly selects customers in our service area who will receive a small device (3” x 3”) that will be attached to their service for testing over the next two years. We will be required to do testing in 50 households. After two years, a new group of customers will be randomly chosen to participate. The box simply checks upload and download speeds and latency and reports back each quarter. The test will not affect your performance and the device does not access or record any content or personal information.
Selected customers will be notified by email and then will receive a call from our customer service team to arrange for installation. The device, called a stamper box, will be installed at your router and will require power. The installation will be completed by Whip City Fiber technicians and the appointment is expected to take less than one hour. Customers who agree to participate will be given a single free month credit on their account as a thank you.
This testing is a requirement for the federal funding which will support your town’s project. Your MLP manager(s), neighbors, and Whip City Fiber appreciate your participation when requested.
